Established in 2016, the African Youth and Adolescents Network on Population and Development – Rwanda (AfriYAN Rwanda) is a vibrant and influential youth-led network in Rwanda. Comprising 18 dedicated youth-led organizations from diverse regions across the country, AfriYAN Rwanda emerged with a resolute mission to champion meaningful and inclusive engagement of adolescents and youth in national and regional development.
Originating from the broader African Adolescents and Youth Network (AfriYAN) established in December 2005 in Lusaka, AfriYAN Rwanda aligns itself with the overarching goals of AfriYAN. The network was conceived to elevate the participation of young people in Africa’s development by empowering them with robust leadership skills, fostering advocacy capabilities, and facilitating their active involvement in shaping policies and programs at national, sub-regional, and international levels.
With a steadfast focus on adolescents and youth, AfriYAN Rwanda directs its efforts across multifaceted programs encompassing crucial areas such as Health, Education, Entrepreneurship, and Youth Employability. By leveraging the collective strength of its diverse member organizations, AfriYAN Rwanda tirelessly works towards advancing the welfare and opportunities for Rwanda's younger generation.
Over the years, AfriYAN Rwanda has continually evolved, leveraging collaboration, innovation, and dedicated advocacy to amplify the voices and aspirations of the country’s youth. Through strategic partnerships and a deep-rooted commitment to empowerment, AfriYAN Rwanda remains steadfast in its mission to drive positive change and ensure a more inclusive and prosperous future for Rwanda’s adolescents and youth.
